Dorothy's Drop-In Center

We invite you to come in and use the restrooms, take a shower, use our laundry facilities–or just watch a movie. When you come to our Drop-In Center, you’ll be met with trauma-informed care specialists and our trained team will help you find what you need–whether it’s a break from the streets, an address to receive mail, gently used clothing, personal hygiene supplies. And most importantly, our team can help you manage your health needs (appointments, prescriptions) and get you started on a path to permanent housing.

If you’re looking for medical care, our Health Clinic is open for two hours every Wednesday. Health insurance is not necessary and we offer prescription assistance to those who do not qualify for Medi-Cal.
Whatever the reason, we’re here to help and listen.

Bridge Project

The path to independent living comes in many forms. Whether you want to get healthy or find a home, our team is here to help guide you. Our Community Health Workers will make sure you have everything you need. They’ll assist you in everything from filling out paperwork to income enhancement to applying for assistance programs. From there, you will be paired with a Social Worker who will work to connect you with a stable health program and help identify your personal goals.

If housing is your goal, your Social Worker will collaborate with a Housing Navigator. Together they will help search the entire rental market, connect you with applications and help you meet with landlords. Once you’ve achieved your goals, help doesn’t end there. Your Social Worker will stick with you as long as you need.
Don’t hesitate to come into our Drop-In Center and ask for help. We’re here for you.

Streets To Homes

Your health and well-being is crucial when it comes to maintaining housing. If you are experiencing homelessness, we are here to help. Through intensive case management, our Streets To Homes Social Workers and Housing Navigators work together to ensure you reach your health and housing goals. If you qualify for Medi-Cal, we can provide Enhanced Care Management that allows us to coordinate with your physical and behavioral healthcare team. Social Workers can help you apply for health benefits, assist with appointments and transportation, medication management, and more.

Our Housing Navigators have fostered relationships with local landlords and the Housing Authority and are ready to partner with you to find and maintain sustainable housing.

Speak with one of our Streets To Homes team members during encampment outreach or come into the office located at 17 East Lake St., Salinas, CA.

House of Peace

The House of Peace advances to the step beyond a homeless shelter. It’s a transitional living program that promotes and provides safety, stability, and well-being for adults who have experienced chronic homelessness. Very much like interim housing, twelve to fourteen residents live in two separate communities, supporting each other toward positive, healthier lifestyles.

As a resident, you will have access to counseling, linkage to community resources, educational direction, financial and literacy programs, assistance with building your income, applying for benefits, job training and employment readiness, and help to get the very most out of Medi-Cal and other healthcare options. There is a resident manager, social workers, and a housing navigator on-site to help you find permanent housing.

We take applications through our Streets To Homes program and we also reserve a limited number of rooms for people in our workforce development program. Inquire inside the Drop-In Center.

Dorothy's Kitchen

For the past 35 years, we have served two meals a day, every day, with love and compassion. We’re a full-service, commercial kitchen using fresh ingredients donated from farms and ranchers in the area. To date, we serve about 400 meals a day. And they’re delicious (if we may say so). If you need a meal, please stop in, we’d love to serve you.
