Interim Housing Project

Short-term housing for long-term solutions.
Interim housing can pop up in something as simple as empty parking lots. And they work–74% of residents in temporary housing programs moved into permanent housing and self-sustaining futures.
So let’s bring the solution to Monterey County. With your help, we can build a community for 44 people in the lot across the street from our current site. All for a fraction of the price of a permanent build.

We have the need, we have the space, we have the hope. Now we just need you.
Give today, unlock a better tomorrow.

Your Donation Matters

At Dorothy’s Place, every little bit helps. We are always accepting donations to fund a variety of services and programs to help our friends in need. From meals served, to coordinated healthcare and the consumer’s individualized path to housing, to basic needs like showers and mail services, your donation can help change a life. Thanks to your help, our four core programs are able to provide comprehensive services and trauma-informed care to those experiencing the injustice of poverty and homelessness.

Your financial support kickstarted our street medicine outreach!

FreeWill Giving

Looking for other ways to give? Great! We’ve partnered with FreeWill, an organization that makes it easier for supporters to give in different ways – for free. Thanks to FreeWill, you can invest in Dorothy’s Place through gifts of cash, bequests, stock, and tax-smart options. Consider these smart giving options:

Wills and Trusts
Making a legacy gift through a will or trust is quickly becoming one of the most popular ways to give back. And all it costs is your signature. Although this service is available to everyone, once your family and friends are provided for, we hope you consider making Dorothy’s Place a part of your life story.

Have you already included a gift in your will or trust? Please fill out this form to let us know! We would love to thank you for your generosity.

Stocks

You can also support Dorothy’s Place through appreciated assets. When you give appreciated stocks directly to charity, your gift can be up to 20% larger because you avoid the taxes you would incur from selling and donating the cash. And, donating stocks, bonds, or other appreciated assets may allow you to avoid capital gains taxes and claim a tax deduction.

Qualified Charitable Distribution
If you are 70 ½ years or older, you can donate up to $100,000 annually from your IRA without having to include the distribution in your taxable income. For donors 73 and older, a QCD can count towards your Required Minimum Distribution, making it one of the best ways to support Dorothy’s Place.

Donor Advised-Fund
This is a flexible and easy way to give to your favorite charities, while also potentially earning tax benefits. From there you can donate to it as much and as frequently as you’d like. You can also consider granting Dorothy’s Place from your donor-advised fund. FreeWill allows you to skip the paperwork by giving you an online connection to your donor-advised fund.

Cryptocurrency Donations

Donating cryptocurrency to Dorothy’s Place is a new, tax-efficient way to give.
