Franciscan Workers of Junipero Serra, which operates Dorothy’s Place in Salinas, seeks a highly motivated, mature, professional Executive Assistant to assist with the daily duties of the Executive Director. The Executive Assistant is responsible for providing high-level administrative, analytical, and project management support to the Executive Director. This includes policy analysis and management, drafting correspondence, reviewing and editing media materials, reviewing and evaluating incoming correspondence and identifying action items, tracking action items from receipt to completion, scheduling meetings, arranging travel, and setting up and maintaining paper and computer files for a variety of records.
Success in the position requires an extensive understanding of the overall organization and its objectives; commitment to the mission of the Franciscan Workers, and the insight, tact, and diplomacy to foster effective collaboration with diverse groups, including State, County and City officials and Franciscan Workers staff. This position requires excellent interpersonal skills, the ability to work independently, and good judgment with respect to sensitive and confidential issues.
Sound written and oral communication, interpersonal and customer service skills and the capacity to deal confidently and courteously with people at all levels.
Ability to research and analyze information sufficient to produce clear, concise documents and reports.
Ability to exercise good judgment and discretion in handling highly confidential and/or sensitive material requiring maintenance of strict confidentiality at all times.
A sensitivity to the injustice of the living conditions of unsheltered people, with an inner strength to work alongside these conditions and not be intimidated by them.

What’s helpful (but not essential) to have in your kit: ability to communicate (written/verbal) in Spanish. Prior military experience. Human resources experience.
Office is on the second floor – candidate must have the ability to walk stairs easily.
